Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan may be creating box office history with each passing day but it’s the most expensive film ever made in India, the SS Rajamouli-directed Baahubali, that may have found a special place in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s wish list of movies to watch.
The film’s leading man Prabhas met up with the prime minister at his office in New Delhi on July 26 and urged him to watch the film that has now made close to Rs 400 crores at the ticket window, both in India and abroad.
In an interview to ANI, Prabhas said, “Today is the best day of my life. I am a big fan (of Narendra Modi) and I can never forget this day. I spoke about Baahubali, I asked him to watch (the film) if he has the time. He said that he’s a little busy but if he can, he surely will.”
Mr Modi even tweeted: “Met ‘Baahubali’ Prabhas today.”
PM Modi, however, wasn’t the only political bigwig to be impressed by Baahubali and its achievements.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh also tweeted as “Met noted film actor Prabhas and Shri Krishnam Raju today. Looking forward to watch Prabhas’ latest film ‘Bahubali’.”
It’s hardly surprising that both the prime minister and the home minister had tall words for Baahubali even when Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan is doing so well at the box office. Not so long ago Salman had urged PM Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif to watch the film, considering it as an attempt to revive the Indo-Pak alliance. The Bhaijaan had tweeted:
“Wld lv n respect if the leaders of Indo-Pak see Bajrangi Bhaijaan bcoz lv for children is above all boundaries @narendramodi #nawazsharif.”
