Andhra, Telangana must join hands for Cooperative federalism : Kavita

kavitaStressing that Chief Ministers of AP and Telangana must come together “politically” to fight for their cause, a TRS MP today criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special package for poll-bound Bihar, saying it has not gone down well with many other states.

The statement of Kalvakuntla Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, comes at a time when political differences between Andhra CM N Chandrababu Naidu and his Telangana counterpart over a range of issues hogging the headlines. Naidu-led TDP and Rao’s TRS are bitter political rivals, as well.

“If something have to be demanded from the Centre, I certainly believe that two people, people of two states have to come together both politically and also people wise and then fight for our cause. Otherwise, in a country so huge, we cannot be heard,” she told reporters here.

Asked whether she meant the Chief Ministers also, Kavitha replied, “Yes, of course. We are people’s representatives…”

Charging that the Prime Minister has failed to honour “cooperative federalism”, she criticised the special package for the election-bound Bihar and demanded that Modi must view all the states equally.

“Today in the country, we know that there is lot of instability and discussion happening more on cooperative federalism, which Modiji has often spoken about. We are very sorry to say that he has not honoured his words and he has not kept his promises.

“Cooperative federalism does not mean that you will only view states, which are going to elections. He has to have a equal view on all the states,” she said.

Kavitha, who represents Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana, said that the announcement of Rs 1.25 lakh crore special package for Bihar has not gone well with many states.

“Look at all states in a equitable manner. Giving away Rs 1.25 lakh crore for Bihar, certainly has not gone well with many states. We can only request the Prime Minister to ensure that he looks upon all the states equally,” she said.
