Acharya Nagarjuna University reopened on Wednesday after a 10-day closure in the aftermath of the death of architecture student M. Rishiteswari last month.
After reopening the caste hoardings removed by various student unions near the canteen have been replaced with colourful posters on the menace of ragging, extracts from the AP Prohibition of Ragging Act 1997 and various anti-ragging measures being taken up by the university.
Entry at the main gate was regulated with both police and private security guards letting in students only after thorough frisking. Students would be provided with ID cards later. Later, a meeting was held by V-C K.R.S Sambasiva Rao with principals who were told not to tolerate any incidents of ragging.
