A PhD scholar in economics at IIT Hyderabad committed suicide in Hyderabad.
Tariq-ul-Islam from Jammu and Kashmir ended his life by hanging himself in a hostel room in Hyderabad, a police officer said in Sri Nagar.
According to Hyderabad police, Tariq Thursday night went to meet two friends — Tauseef Ahmad of Barsoo Awantipora (Anantnag) and Sajad Ahmad Bhat of Yaripora, Kulgam — both students of Central University Hyderabad at their hostel.
After spending the night with his friends, Tariq Friday went to offer prayers in a nearby room.
After some time, his friends called him but he did not respond. When they found the door bolted from inside, they broke it and found Tariq hanging.
A police case has been registered, and initial investigation revealed that he committed suicide.
