Following the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh, the Ministry of External Affairs has decided to realign the jurisdiction of passport offices at Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.
The districts of Guntur and Krishna (in Andhra Pradesh) along with Yanam in Union Territory of Puducherry would now fall in the jurisdiction of Visakhapatnam passport office.
Passport applicants from Guntur, Krishna and Yanam can choose either the Passport Seva Kendra (PSKs) at Vijayawada or Visakhapatnam while registering on passport portal from Friday onwards, Regional passport officer (Hyderabad) Ashwini S said in a release in Hyderabad.
Visakhapatnam Passport Office would cover the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Yanam, she said.
Remaining districts of Andhra Pradesh – Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur – will continue to be served by PSK Tirupati or PSKs in Hyderabad under the Regional Passport Officer until further orders.
The PSKs in Hyderabad and Nizamabad will continue to cater to the applicants from districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Medak, Nizamabad, Warangal, Ranga Reddy, Khammam, Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda of Telangana state
