AP should not be linked to others for special status

sujanaUnion Minister of State for Science and Technology Y.S. Chowdary on Wednesday said the issue of granting special category status to Andhra Pradesh should not be linked to other States and declared that TDP has its own strategy and policy of achieving the special status.

Talking to reporters in Delhi, he said TDP leaders would soon seek an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and apprise him of the situation in the State. He said TDP preferred to achieve special category status through deliberations and the party need not follow YSRC in this regard. He said the TDP Parliamentary Party met and reviewed the latest situation on Wednesday.

He recalled that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had promised Special Category status on the floor of Parliament and the case of Andhra Pradesh was different and should not be linked to other States.

Meanwhile, TDP MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy ridiculed the remarks made by Congress president Sonia Gandhi following the suspension of Congress MPs that it was a black day for democracy. Terming it as meaningless, he told reporters in Delhi that Ms. Gandhi was not eligible to make such a comment.
