According to the sources, Modi’s invitation to attend India’s Republic Day parade took Obama by surprise but he felt “personally honoured” to accept. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Obama and other dignitaries from the world’s two largest democracies will attend Republic Day celebrations on January 26, which include a military parade and display of Indian weaponry.
Obama will arrive India on Jan 25 along with his wife Michelle on a three-day state visit. Obama is not just the first US president to attend the Republic Day function in India, but also the first to visit the country for second time.

First Lady Michelle Obama, Representative Nancy Pelosi, minority leader of the U.S. House,US Senator Mark Warner,US Representative Joe Crowley,US Representative Ami Bera ,US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker,US National Security Adviser Susan Rice,US Trade Representative Michael Froman,John Podesta, counselor to Barack Obama,Several US business leaders.
Indian business tycoons Anil and Mukesh Ambani, Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan and cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar,Tennis star Sania Mirza are among many celebrities invited for the ceremonial banquet on jan 25 to be hosted by President Pranab Mukherjee for US President Barack Obama.
