Chandrababu Considers Raising Retirement Age of Public Sector Employees to 60


Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu assured public sector employees that their demand to increase the retirement age from 58 years to 60 would be considered.

Andhra Pradesh Non Gazetted Employees Association (APNGO) General Secretary P Ashok Babu and other members held a meeting with the chief minister here and appealed to him to raise the retirement age of the employees.

Mr Naidu on the occasion promised to the association that he will consider to increase retirement age by two more years for the larger benefit of employees, according to an official release issued by State Information department.

APNGO members also brought the issue of some power sector employees being relieved from services by the Telangana government on the ground of place of birth, claiming that they were born in Andhra Pradesh.

The chief minister assured them support in this regard and said it will take up legal procedures against Telangana government.

He also said the government will consider the request to shift state employees from Hyderabad to the new capital in a phased manner.

APNGO had also urged the chief minister to hike the wages of outsourcing employees in various departments.

However, there was no concrete decision taken on the matter, it said.
