Setting aside political differences, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul on Monday walked upto External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in Lok Sabha and enquired about her well-being.
Gandhi walked upto her and had a chat with a smiling Swaraj, who also spoke to the Congress chief. The Minister was apparently recovering from a leg injury.
This happened when the Lok Sabha was adjourned briefly after Congress members strongly protested and demanded apology from Union Minister Giriraj Singh for his alleged remarks on Gandhi.
Sonia was soon joined in the House by her son and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, who too enquired about Swaraj’s health.
Swaraj had unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha poll against Sonia in Bellary in Karnataka in 1999 on the ground of her foreign origin.
Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, members like Jyotiraditya Scindia, Surpiya Sule (NCP), Bhagwant Mann (AAP) and others came and chatted with Swaraj.
Ministers like Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Jitendra Singh and Haribhai Chaudhary too came to Swaraj and spoke to her.
