Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 10 and sought a high-level enquiry into the alleged phone-tapping by the Telangana government, has accused the latter of procuring sophisticated equipment unauthorisedly and indulging in illegal tapping of phones of the AP government machinery.
In a five-page letter submitted to Mr. Modi, Mr. Naidu requested the PM to order a high-level probe into all cases of “illegal phone tapping” by the Telangana government.
The letter said, “It is learnt that the government of Telangana has outsourced the job of illegal phone-tapping to private investigators who acquired phone-tapping equipment illegally.” Further, it added that there was interception during May-24-31 of the phones of Bishop Sebastian, who is not an extremist or a terrorist.
He also urged the PM to order effective implementation of Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 by establishing an effective institutional framework and operational protocol for both State governments to function effectively, equitably and above all independently without TS Government encroaching on the authority of the AP Government.
