A 20-year-old Indian developed an android application for cancer bio-marker detection in the US. A former student of IIIT at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district, Sandeep Konam, currently studying MS in Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University at Pittsburgh in the US, has developed an android application for conducting a screening test for the detection of cancer bio-markers from a small drop of blood. The appliance was developed under the Google Summer of Code’ 2015.
The goal of the project was to develop a simple, portable, low-cost and highly reliable screening test for detection of cancer biomarkers from one drop of blood. Software component of the project aims to develop a mobile appliance to analyse the intensity of blood samples and quantify the presence or absence of various molecules.
The project was carried out as part of Google Summer of Code’ 2015 under the mentorship of Tomas Helikar, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and Principal Investigator of Helikar Lab, Mr. Sandeep told.
